Around our beautiful region
Our scenic Moonambel winery is found in the Victorian Pyrenees region, located only fifteen minutes from Avoca. In some ways, this beautiful area is still a best kept secret waiting to be discovered.
Flowing with wine, gourmet produce and stunning vistas, this is the perfect place to spend a few days and unwind in natural surroundings ... and, of course, with a glass or two of regional wine!
Stay with us on your way to the Grampians...
Coming from Melbourne, the Avoca region is a perfectly positioned enroute stop when travelling to the Grampians region. When escaping the city madness on a weekender trip why not drop into our winery and stay in our apartments? Enjoying an early lunch and a matching glass of wine in our cellar would be a perfect way to start the day before heading onto the Grampians! If you haven't experienced the breathtaking beauty of the Grampians, you've got a lot to look forward to!
Visit the Grampians' National Park, where you can see ancient Aboriginal rock art, breathtaking wildflower displays (between August and October is the best time for this) and get active in the great outdoors with bushwalking, absailing, rockclimbing, horseriding and more. There's an abundance of enchanting flora and fauna to be found around this picturesque place and you'll find the locals - kangeroos, koalas, emus, wedge-tailed eagles and more - enjoying the natural surroundings too!
Uncannily, many Victorian do not realise the natural beauty of the Pyrenees region in their own backyard. When the word 'Pyrenees' comes up, many people think of the Pyrenee region found along the borders to France and Spain instead of its Victorian counterpart. Yet, the Pyrenees region in Victoria was actually named after the European Pyrenees for its semblence ... rugged scenery, sweeping vistas and temperate climate. Not to mention great wines!
